Learn about each of the partners that make up the
Oregon Marine Reserves Partnership.

Oregon Department of
Fish and Wildlife

Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife oversees the management and scientific monitoring of Oregon’s marine reserve system consisting of five Marine Reserves and nine Marine Protected Areas off our coast.

This research is helping inform how we can best manage our coastal waters into the future. Find out more about their work with the Oregon Marine Reserves Program.

Seven Capes Bird Alliance

SCBA, formerly Audubon Society of Lincoln City, has been active in educating about and advocating for protections of birds, other wildlife, and their habitats in Lincoln and Tillamook counties.

Their mission is to encourage residents and visitors to enjoy and protect native birds and other wildlife and habitats found on Oregon’s Coast, through conservation, education and community science.

Surfrider

The Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s ocean, waves and beaches, for all people, through a powerful activist network.

Surfrider Oregon is currently engaged in a statewide campaign to protect Oregon's public beaches and support resilient communities and coastlines in the face of climate change.

Bird Alliance of Oregon

Bird Alliance of Oregon’s passionate and growing community has loved and advocated for Oregon’s wildlife and wild places for more than 100 years. With the help of our vast network of advocates, nature enthusiasts, and partners, we inspire and connect people to nature through a variety of programs that are grounded in science and learning.

Our mission: To inspire all people to love and protect birds, wildlife, and the natural environment upon which life depends.

The Nature Conservancy

The Nature Conservancy is working to have the highest possible impact on the climate and biodiversity crises between now and 2030, by developing breakthrough ideas, amplifying local leaders and influencing policy.

Our mission is to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends.

Oregon Parks and Recreation

Oregon Parks and Recreation (OPRD) has a vision to take the long view to protect Oregon's special places and provide the greatest experience while creating stable future funding.

The mission of OPRD is to provide and protect outstanding natural, scenic, cultural, historic and recreational sites for the enjoyment and education of present and future generations.

Department of Land Conservation and Development

The Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD) is a small state agency that works in partnership with local governments and state and federal agencies to address the land use needs of the public, communities, regions, and the state. Oregon is one of 34 states and territories with a federally recognized Coastal Management Program established by the Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972.

The Oregon Coastal Management Program's mission is to protect Oregon’s coastal and ocean resources in support of livable and resilient communities for present and future generations.

Learning and Adapting

Marine reserves are a relatively new management tool here in Oregon. Based on what we’re learning, our scientific research is evolving and adapting over time to produce the best possible data. We continue to ask questions about the ability of our research tools to generate robust, valid, and unbiased data and new research studies are being added over time. Our goal is to continually seek to improve our scientific research, based on the best-available science.
